Something that keeps coming up for my awareness is that focusing on logic, as the only answer, is like tunnel vision. It's like having a beautiful apple pie and eating the picture of it on the box. I miss everything else that's possible outside of what "I know" or what "I think I know" or what "I want to know".
The irony of trying to open into more possibilities outside the box is that you can't get there by thinking harder. This activates more of the left brain, creates more tunnel vision, and is exactly opposite of what's needed. To be creative and open to new possibilities you have to activate the creative and emotionally connective right brain and prefrontal cortex. One way to do this is to slow down . . . really, slow down . . . bring your attention to the present moment . . . and open your curiosity to your physical environment . . . inside and out. The magic of bringing your attention to your environment is that it only presents itself to you in one place . . . the present. Your logical mind is led to let go of the past and the future.
Focusing on these nonsensical awarenesses and your curiosity of the present moment allows your left brain and amygdala to rest, and your right brain and prefrontal cortex to be activated. As you quiet your analytical mind and survival instincts, you innately tune into your deeper essence, broader awareness, and wholistic intuition. In tis space new possibilities are revealed. A whole other world is revealed when you pause, get curious, and relax into an awareness that you don't know what you don't know. |
