Is your pursuit of perfection impeding your joy of life?
Perfection is my friend when I can quickly find a file I’m looking for, even more so when it’s an old, complex Excel spreadsheet that effortlessly aids in solving a new problem.
Perfection is not my friend when it feeds into a cycle of procrastination that keeps me from finishing a project or even starting it.
Perfection is my friend when it supports my patience and simple enjoyment of doing a job well. It is my friend when I feel satisfied and proud of the end result, even more so when people I care about feel the same.
Perfection is not my friend when I beat myself up and lose sleep over flaws in a job already done. It is not my friend when I fall into autopilot and redo something someone else has already completed. It is not my friend when it walks over someone else’s joyful expression of doing life their way.
Most of all, perfection is not my friend when it keeps me from spending time with those I love.
