Grateful Heart
When we’re coaching ourselves it is most effective to open and position our day with positivity. In this way we activate the prefrontal cortex. This is creative part of the brain that makes us uniquely human.
If we begin our day thinking adversely or contractively about all the things we have to do to get through the day ‘successfully’, we will activate the amygdala. This is the fight-or-flight part of the brain that connects us to our animalistic survival instincts. The amygdala relies on what it knows and what it has experienced to react to life and keep us safe. It only knows the past. It will not help us reveal any new or creative possibilities for our day. Curiosity and wonder are our best friends when working with the mind. Start each day from here, activating your prefrontal cortex in a positive light. Find something playful and fun that you LOVE to do. Maybe even go to bed and get up 15 or 30 minutes earlier so you can add this critical component to your morning!!! What could you do?
